🔄Overview
Moving a phone number from one group to another in BroadWorks involves a few key steps to ensure the number is properly unassigned, transferred, and reactivated in the new group.
🧩 Key Steps
1. Unassign the Number from the Current Group
- Navigate to the user or service currently using the number.
- Remove the number from their profile (primary or alternate).
- This action returns the number to the unassigned pool of the current group.
2. Release the Number to the Enterprise Pool
-
From Resources > Assign Numbers, search for the number you wish to move.
- If it’s a single number, you can simply tick the Delete checkbox and click Apply.
- If the number is part of a range, you’ll need to edit the range to remove the specific number.
Once removed, the number becomes unassigned and is returned to the enterprise-level pool, making it available for reassignment to another group.
- This step is essential to make the number visible to other groups under the same enterprise.
3. Assign to the Group
-
Go to the destination group where you want to assign the number.
-
Open Number Assignment
Go to Resources > Assign Numbers. -
Click “Add”
This opens the number assignment interface. -
Select from Available Range(s)
Choose the number or range you want to assign from the Available Range(s) list. -
Move to Available Phone Number(s)
Click Add to move the selected number(s) into the Available Phone Number(s) list. -
Assign to Group
Select the required number(s) and move them into the Assign to Group section. -
Save Changes
Click OK to save and complete the assignment.
Once completed, the number is now part of the group’s inventory and can be assigned to a user or service.
⚠️ Important Notes
- This process requires administrative access at both the enterprise and group levels.
- After assigning the number to the new group, it must be activated before it becomes dial-able.
- Ensure the number is fully activated within the group’s configuration..Resources > Activate Numbers
