Provisioning call recording for Microsoft Teams involves ensuring compatibility and permissions across several areas.
Before we can start the configuration the following is required.
- MS Teams user licence type: Compliance Recording can be enabled on Microsoft 365 A3/A5/E3/E5/Business Premium, Office 365 A3/A5/E3/E5 users, Teams Rooms license, or Microsoft Teams Shared Devices license.
- Access with knowledge to Powershell 5.1 or greater with Admin rights.
- Global Admin on the MS Teams Tenant you are wanting to configure call recording.
- Details of your “onmicrosoft.com” domain address.
- Please provide a name and email address for the Call Recording Admin, this user will then be added to the account ahead of the provisioning session
Have a think about the following settings.
Recording Policies
- We support the ability to include a message to state that calls are being recorded.
- We support the ability to not connect calls if the recorder is unavailable.
- We support recording of meetings, PSTN and internal calls. We can configure this to only record certain traffic if required.
- We supports the use of pause and resume. This is via an app in MS Teams and allows users to pause and resume recordings in a meeting or call.
In the Setup you will be asked:
- Should the recording message be activated on the system?
- Should calls happen if the recorder is unavailable?
- Is all traffic to be recorded, or certain elements?
- Should Pause and Resume be enabled?
Access
We have two levels of users who can access the platform, access is granted by having an email address associated with a user:
- Admins are those who can access all the calls and listen to them, create teams and manage users.
- Standard users, who have access to their own calls (if granted access) and calls of their team.
Should standard users have access to their own recordings.
Note: users can always have email addresses added or removed at a later time if the policy were to change.
