Wi-Fi Calling allows you to make and receive calls using a Wi-Fi connection when mobile network coverage is limited or unavailable. Calls are routed securely over the internet while using your Unity Extend service.
Does Unity Extend support Wi-Fi Calling?
Yes. Unity Extend supports Wi-Fi Calling on compatible devices and supported SIM profiles.
Which SIM profiles support Wi-Fi Calling?
Wi-Fi Calling is supported on:
- Profile 6+ SIMs
- Profile 8+ SIMs
This applies to both:
- Physical SIMs
- eSIMs
Which SIM profile is recommended?
While Profile 6+ SIMs are supported, Profile 8 or higher is strongly recommended for the best performance and reliability when using Wi-Fi Calling.
Profile 8 SIMs provide the most consistent experience and are the preferred option for new deployments.
Does the ST005 SIM support Wi-Fi Calling?
The ST005 SIM is not recommended for Wi-Fi Calling.
Although some functionality may be available depending on the device and network configuration, ST005 SIMs may not provide the optimal experience required for reliable Wi-Fi Calling services.
For the best results, a Profile 8 or higher SIM should be used.
