Enable Wi-Fi Calling on iPhone (UK)
Wi-Fi Calling allows you to make and receive calls over a Wi-Fi connection when mobile coverage is limited. Follow the steps below to enable Wi-Fi Calling on your iPhone.
Turn on Wi-Fi Calling
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Mobile Service (or Mobile Data on some versions of iOS).
- If your iPhone has multiple SIMs or eSIMs, select the line you want to use.
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling.
- Turn on Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone.
- When prompted, tap Enable.
- If required, enter or confirm your emergency services address.
Confirm Wi-Fi Calling is Active
Once enabled, when connected to Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Calling is in use:
- Open Control Centre or view the status bar.
- You should see Wi-Fi Calling or your network name followed by “Wi-Fi” (for example, EE WiFi or O2 WiFi).
This indicates that calls will be routed over your Wi-Fi connection.
Enable Wi-Fi Calling on Samsung Devices
Wi-Fi Calling allows you to make and receive calls over a Wi-Fi connection when mobile coverage is poor or unavailable.
Turn on Wi-Fi Calling
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling.
- Turn Wi-Fi Calling On.
- Review and accept any prompts from your mobile network provider.
- If requested, enter or confirm your emergency services address.
Alternative Method
On some Samsung devices, Wi-Fi Calling can also be enabled from the Phone app:
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling.
- Turn the feature On.
Confirm Wi-Fi Calling is Active
Once enabled and connected to Wi‑Fi:
- The Wi‑Fi Calling icon will appear in the status bar.
- Some networks may display the carrier name followed by WiFi.
- Calls will automatically use Wi‑Fi when network conditions require it.
Enable Wi-Fi Calling on Google Pixel Devices
Wi-Fi Calling allows you to make and receive calls over a Wi-Fi connection when mobile network coverage is weak or unavailable.
Turn on Wi-Fi Calling
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Network & Internet.
- Tap SIMs.
- Select the SIM or eSIM you want to use.
- Tap Wi‑Fi Calling.
- Turn Use Wi‑Fi Calling On.
- If prompted, review and accept the terms and conditions.
- Enter or confirm your emergency services address if requested by your mobile network provider.
Confirm Wi-Fi Calling is Active
Once enabled and connected to a Wi‑Fi network:
- A Wi‑Fi Calling icon may appear in the status bar.
- Some network providers may display the carrier name followed by Wi‑Fi.
- Calls will automatically use Wi‑Fi when mobile coverage is insufficient.
Emergency Calls
- When mobile coverage is available, emergency calls will normally use the mobile network.
- If mobile coverage is unavailable, emergency calls may be placed using Wi-Fi Calling.
- Your device location information may be used to support emergency services, regardless of whether Location Services is enabled.
Note: Wi-Fi Calling must be supported by both your mobile network and your device. Unity Extend users should ensure Wi-Fi Calling is enabled before activating the service where possible.
