What happens when I use all of my data allowance?
If you exceed the data allowance included with your Unity Extend plan, good news your service will NOT be disconnected. Instead, your data speeds will be reduced (throttled) until your allowance resets or you upgrade your plan.
When does throttling apply?
Unity Extend plans include different monthly data allowances, including:
- 2GB
- 4GB
- 10GB
- 20GB
- Unlimited
Once your included allowance has been used, data access remains available but at reduced speeds.
What speeds will I receive when throttled?
Background Data Plans
- 128 Kbps for the first 2GB beyond your allowance
- 64 Kbps thereafter
Day Pass Plans (International Roaming)
If you use more than 1GB of data during a Day Pass, your speed will be reduced to 500 Kbps for the remainder of the pass.
Will I be notified?
Yes. We will typically send SMS notifications when you have used:
- 80% of your data allowance
- 100% of your data allowance
When are limits reset?
limits are reset on the 1st of each month..
How can I remove throttling?
If you upgrade to a higher plan, any throttling restrictions will be removed immediately once the upgrade is completed. Your usage will then be measured against the allowance included with your new plan.
Important
Even after you’ve used all of your included data, your service will continue to work. Data speeds are simply reduced to help ensure you stay connected instead of experiencing a complete loss of service.
